AMERICAN GANGSTER
I’ve always been obsessed with gangster movies, from Mario Puzzo’s The Godfather Series to Martin Scorsese’s Casino and The Departed (see my Top 10 All-time ‘Gangster/Mafia’ Movies below).
One of the many thing’s most of these films have in common is that they are steeped American history and tradition. Being a third generation Italian-American myself, it’s this rich history and sense of nostalgia that beguiles me. Whether it’s classic cars or vintage clothing, I’ve always preferred to surround myself, and dress myself, with pieces that have a richness of history and tradition, that have a story to tell. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I became an actor.
I shot this images with my good friend, and French fashion photographer, François-Xavier Watine at the iconic Mel’s Diner on the infamous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. The car, one of my prize possessions, is a 1966 Chevy Chevelle 396 big block.
